Causes of a Yeast Infection

Causes of a Yeast Infection
There are many causes of a yeast infection. A yeast infection can be caused by antibiotics, stress, a refined carbohydrate diet, cortisone, birth control pills, lack of sleep, menstruation, diseases such as diabetes and HIV/AIDS, hormonal changes from a period, pregnancy, reduced digestive secretions, a weak immune system and poor liver function.
The disease is a twenty century problem due to an overuse of antibiotics. When a person uses antibiotics, the antibiotics destroy the bad and good bacteria.
Not only are antibiotics a problem in creating a good environment for yeast to thrive, but stress also can weaken the immune system. When the body has a weak immune system, it becomes more vulnerable to disease. An individual who is under a lot of stress makes themselves more susceptible to a yeast infection.
Diet is also another cause for a yeast infection. When a person consumes highly refined carbohydrates and lots of sugar yeast will grow even more, because yeast thrives on sugar and causes a person to crave for carbohydrates and sugar. If you are suffering from yeast infections you want to avoid certain foods. Some of the foods include cheese, ice cream, sodas and any other foods that contain sugar. Cheeses are made from mold. Molds also contain antibiotics. You should also avoid dairy products such as milk, ice cream and cheese, because they contain lactose which is a milk sugar. You should also avoid baked goods and alcoholic beverages since they also contain yeast.
There are other factors that can cause yeast infections. They are a reduction in digestive secretions, a weak immune system and an impaired liver function.
Hydrochloric acid, pancreatic enzymes, and bile can help to stop the overgrowth of yeast and can also prevent “penetration into the absorptive surfaces of the intestines. When there is a lack of hydrochloric acid, pancreatic enzymes and bile the yeast will grow.
Another factor that can cause yeast infections is a weak immune system and an impaired liver. A weak immune system can happen as a result of antibiotics, steroids, environmental chemicals, a lack of proper nutrition, cancer, hyprothyroidism and stress. When there is an overgrowth of yeast in the body the liver cannot filter the blood properly. In mice it was discovered that when the liver is impaired there is an overgrowth of yeast.
Symptoms of a Yeast Infection
The symptoms of a yeast infection include itching in and around the vagina, burning, thick white vaginal discarge that resembles cottage cheese, soreness, red and swollen vagina and vulva, pain when urinating, a bad odor and painful sex.
If you suspect that you have a yeast infection, go to your doctor to find out if that is what you have. The doctor can examine you to find out if you actually have a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. Although a yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted disease, sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea have similar symptoms. If your medical ailment is something other than a yeast infections it could get worse.
